Training
RSC is committed to introducing people to the sport of sailing and training them on so that they can participate in racing. We have a team of RYA qualified instructors and a fleet of Topper dinghies. All courses have a good ratio of instructors and rescue cover to pupils. There is a support network to encourage people to progress from beginner level to competitive racing. Informal sailing days away from racing and training sessions for small groups with qualified racing instructors can be arranged on an ad hoc basis.
In 2005 the Club purchased three more Toppers, a nearly new Enterprise and new buoyancy aids in a variety of sizes, to improve the training facilities. Several more of our advanced sailors were trained as RYA racing instructors.
Open Day
The Club Open Day is held annually in May or June. This is an opportunity for anyone who has never tried sailing before to have a go. There is no charge for this and even the buoyancy aids are provided.
Open Day this year will be on Saturday 7th June 2008.
Club Training Course
This course takes place annually in June. The course is open to adults and children, members and temporary members and aims to bring complete novices up to the equivalent of RYA Level 2. All boats and buoyancy aids are provided. We are able to offer this at a very reasonable price as the time given by Club members is all voluntary.
Please go to Sailing News for details about the 2008 course.
Training for Members
Ongoing training sessions will be arranged during the summer.
Please keep an eye out for dates on the Sailing News page.
