Do I need to be able to sail?

No, we run a number of training courses during the year using qualified instructors – look out in the training and news sections for up and coming dates. There is also lots of friendly advice always available, and of course safety boat cover.

Do I need to own my own boat?

No, you will see in “the fleet” section of this website that we have a number of club boats available for hire to club members. You may also find that there are crewing opportunities on other members’ boats.

Is there a minimum and maximum age?

One of the great things about sailing is that it is accessible to people of all ages, so whether you are 8 or 80 (perhaps even younger or older!) you’ll be welcome to sail at the club.

How much will it cost?

We really do try to make sailing as accessible as possible, by the provision of club boats to rent, and try to keep our membership fees as low as possible whilst maintaining good facilities. We also have open days when you can “have a go” at no cost at all. Look at the membership rates in the membership section or email us at enquiries@rotherhamsailingclub.org.uk if you have any specific questions.

Can I keep my boat at the club?

Yes, there is a good sized secure compound providing berths with anchor points for members’ boats.
