Canal and Rivers Trust (CRT) have made us aware that preliminary investigations will be taking place for a couple of weeks, commencing 6th December. These works will not require any further water to be taken out of the reservoir, however the car park will be closed, as will the path along the dam wall. Access to the sailing club will still be available should you need to visit you boat and say hello!

Posted by Chris on Jul 21, 2021 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Covid 19 – Step 4 changes

Covid RestrictionsOn Monday 19th July we moved to Step 4 of the Covid-19 roadmap. What does this mean to us as a club? The committee has agreed that essentially, whilst we can now remove pretty much all restrictions, we should still remain vigilant as a club and ensure the safety of club members and visitors.  The galley and bar can now be opened so food and drink will be available (not that we currently have much food at the club, but the fridges will be turned on if members want to place their lunches etc. in there and we have somewhere for...

Club closed to all activities

Posted by Chris on Jan 5, 2021 in Members, Sailing, Social | Comments Off on Club closed to all activities

As you are hopefully aware, the Prime Minister announced a National Lockdown last night (Monday 4th January 2021), with immediate effect, but written into law from the early hours of Wednesday morning. Having reviewed the document released last night, which is available to everyone on the gov.uk website, there is a clear directive that Outdoor Sports Venues must close. Sadly this means that we will need to close the club once again and all sailing/swimming activities must cease until the restrictions are lifted and access is restricted.  If...

As our members will know, we have been liaising with the Canal & Rivers Trust for a number of months now with regards to the water levels throughout 2020. What with this and the Coronavirus restrictions it’s fair to say it has been a challenging year for Rotherham Sailing Club! The Canal & Rivers Trust have today announced a £5 million upgrade programme to the reservoir. They will be upgrading the reservoir in line with modern day standards, which will involve redesigning the overflow spillway to increase its resilience. This...

Social Sailing Sessions to Continue

Posted by Chris on Jun 15, 2020 in Members, Sailing, Social | Comments Off on Social Sailing Sessions to Continue

Well yesterday saw our first social sail under these strange times and what a great success it was. Fantastic to see smiles on faces as people got out on the water for the first time. We have to say a huge thank you to everyone for observing the Social Distancing requirements – looks like the floor markings helped!  We had the winch in operation for the first time and whilst a little slow, it was perfect for recovering the boat without all the grunt and with very few people required. We have identified a few little tweaks to make and...
