The water is back! Traditional Boxing Day Race for the Mettam Punch Bowl Trophy is on. Race starts at 11am followed by Mince Pies and warm punch. Special trophy for the first Junior to finish but there’s more…….. Put Xmas decorations on your boat and the best one wins a prize as well.

Social Sailing has been taking place for the last few weeks, to get used to the water again and racing has also now recommenced. The usual Thursday night Pie & Pea Series is back up and running, proving popular again and according to chief taster (Rex) the pies are even better than before! The latest information received from Canal & Rivers Trust, is that the works on the dam wall have been further delayed. They are now expecting a completion date around May, with water being let back into thew reservoir and allowed to increase to its maximum level from April onwards. This is a further disappointment with a second delay now being encountered, however hopefully we will be back on the water very quickly.

The Club are running a power boat course on 12th and 13 March at RYA level 2 which will be the last one we will put on for this year.  Ideally suited to any member who wants to gain a qualification or simply would like some tuition and practice on both low and high speed manoeuvres. We will be taking  all participants from novice onwards and so previous experience or skills are not necessary! usual cost to include books, certificates...

Canal and Rivers Trust (CRT) have made us aware that preliminary investigations will be taking place for a couple of weeks, commencing 6th December. These works will not require any further water to be taken out of the reservoir, however the car park will be closed, as will the path along the dam wall. Access to the sailing club will still be available should you need to visit you boat and say hello!
