Newcomers are always welcome at Rotherham Model Yacht Club, and our experienced members are happy to sail alongside you to help you feel comfortable on your first visit. Model yacht sailing is an engaging and rewarding hobby, combining technical skill with the enjoyment of sailing in a peaceful outdoor setting. If you’re new to the sport, we’re always happy to offer guidance and informal tuition to help you get started.
All sailors at Rotherham Model Yacht Club are required to apply for club membership and hold Model Yachting Association (MYA) affiliation for insurance purposes before taking part in regular sailing and racing activities.
Perfect for anyone over 18 who wants full sailing rights for their own boat and/or use of club boats.
For the first partner, cohabitee, and children (under 18, or up to 25 if in full-time education) of a Full Member. Allows the additional member to sail their own or club boats.
For second and subsequent children (under 18, or up to 25 if in full-time education) of a Full Member. Allows the additional member to sail their own or club boats. Full members must have purchased and paid for a First Additional Sailing Member already before using this membership to add additional family members.
For those who only want to crew for another helm and do not have their own boat they want to sail at Harthill.
For juniors under the age of 18 who want to sail their own or club boats. Also available to people under 25 years of age if in full-time education or unemployed.
For non-sailing supporters, friends or family who want to use the clubhouse bar and invite guests to social events.
Annual Fee to store ONE boat in the club's storage compound at Harthill. Boat storage is only available to Full and Cadet Members. You must purchase and pay for one of these memberships before paying a berth fee. You must purchase the applicable multiple berth fee membership if you need to store more than one boat (three boat maximum).

Ideal for occasional kayakers, canoeists or stand-up paddleboarders who want to bring their own craft and only pay when they paddle – simply book your session online and come down to enjoy the water.
Perfect if you just want to dip in with Yorkshire Outdoor Swimmers now and again – simply book your open-water swim session online and pay as you go with no annual commitment.
